Holiday Camp FAQ’s

What if it rains?

Forest School is all about embracing the great outdoors in every season and weather condition. We aim to be outside as much as possible, even in the rain! However, on particularly unpleasant days, we have access to indoor space for shelter and activities. Our leaders follow a flexible, weather-responsive plan to ensure safety and enjoyment.

Cancellation Policy

Plans change — we get it! If you need to cancel, please let us know at least two weeks before the start of camp to receive a full refund.
Hello Outside camps run in all weather conditions — rain or shine. However, in the event of high winds or storms, we may have to cancel sessions for safety reasons. If this happens, we will provide as much notice as possible and issue a full refund.

What should children bring?

A packed lunch (Strictly no nut products)

A refillable water bottle

Sunscreen applied before arrival (summer months), with extra packed for reapplication

Any personal medication, clearly labelled and handed to a leader

A campfire snack will be provided daily, tailored to seasonal availability and the group’s dietary needs and allergies.

What should children wear?

Long trousers and preferably long-sleeved tops (to protect against nettles, ticks, and bites)

Layered clothing and a spare set of clothes

Closed-toe footwear (no sandals or flip-flops)

Weather-appropriate accessories — woolly hats, sun hats, waterproofs, etc.

Who runs the holiday club?

Our sessions are led by qualified and experienced Level 3 Forest School Leaders. All leaders are DBS-checked, first-aid trained, and fully insured. You can be confident your child is in safe, knowledgeable hands.

Where is the holiday club run?

It will be based at Prestbury St Mary’s Forest School Area. The Leaders will meet parents and children by the red side gate in the car park and complete registration there.

Is Forest School suitable for neurodivergent children?

Absolutely. Forest School has proven to be especially beneficial for neurodivergent children, offering a calm, sensory-rich environment where they can thrive. Our team has extensive experience supporting a range of additional needs. Please inform us of any requirements during the booking process so we can ensure the right staff ratios and appropriate activities for every child.

What to Expect

Children will embark on an exciting outdoor adventure, learning a wide range of skills from fire lighting and den building to leadership and mindfulness. They'll have the chance to work with real tools, explore their creativity, and discover the natural world around them.

Activities may include:

Building shelters and dens

Learning to safely light and maintain a fire

Core survival skills

Foraging for natural materials

Bushcraft workshops

Cooking over a campfire

Discovering local wildlife, tree species, and ecosystems

Confidence-boosting games and challenges

Teamwork and leadership tasks

Mindfulness and nature-based relaxation

Immersive storytelling around the fire

A healthy snack will be provided each day, often cooked on the campfire. Children should bring their own packed lunch and a refillable water bottle.
