About FSLI
Forest School Learning Initiative (FSLI) was set up in 2006 by Christina Dee to take her experience of developing Forest School Training and running Forest school sessions to child care practitioners throughout the UK
Chris began her Forest school experience in 2000 at Evesham and Malvern Hills College, including working with groups of children as well as child care students and students up to 19 years with learning difficulties. In addition, Chris was responsible for developing Forest School Leader Training Level 3, training Forest School Leaders locally all over the UK.
From the beginning, all FSLI staff have continued to carry out Forest School sessions with children, aged 3-18 years -with the main focus on primary years - and all members of the FSLI training team lead regular weekly sessions in local schools.
FSLI has been a recognised as a Forest School Training Provider since 2007, and has since trained more than 3000 Level 3 Forest School Leaders and supported them to develop and implement Forest School in their settings. FSLI's Awarding Body is ITC First.
Feedback from FSLI training courses has been exceptional, with the team consistently achieving a 95% completion rate and receiving outstanding positive feedback from students.
Our model of training is an educationalist one, centred on the Forest School approach and ethos to facilitate and promote childrens learning in line with Forest School Association Forest School principles. Ecological and Environmental issues are thoroughly covered thorughout the training with the focus is on childrens learning at all key stages, and their play experiences using the outdoors.
Training across England
FSLI trains students all over England, and has developed particular expertise in London boroughs (including Hackney, Greenwich, Lewisham, Bexley, Bromley, Southwark, Tower Hamlets) and inner city locations, as well as more rural settings. Regular FSLI training courses are also held in Bristol, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Cheshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, Manchester, Birmingham, Warwickshire, Hertfordshire and Berkshire. Meet the team and find out more about our courses by going to our training pages here. All FSLI practitioners hold current DBS checks, Paediatric First Aid and First Aid at Work qualifications.

We are able to lead and manage Forest School Sessions in your setting for those who would like to get Forest School established in their setting and/or to cover PPA (Planning, Preparation and Assessment) many schools use thier Sports Funding monies to fund Forest School sessions .We currently run sessions in 13 schools to approximately 500 children a week. For schools which already have an established Forest School in a field or small area, we are able to offer woodland forest school sessions at a number of FSLI sites to enhance the learning experience for your children.
